The Victorian Studies Centre is delighted to announce its annual lecture, which this year will be given by Dr Matthew Sweet. Matthew is a familiar voice in British broadcasting as presenter of Night Waves, The Sound of Cinema and Free Thinking on BBC Radio 3, as well as being the author of Inventing the Victorians and Shepperton Babylon: The Lost Worlds of British Cinema. His lecture, which is titled ‘The Victorian World: Prison to Playground’, will take place on Wednesday 19th November at 5.15pm and will be followed by a wine reception.
The event will take place in the Peter Williams Lecture Theatre, and is free to all staff. students, and members of the public.
